Umetaro Azechi (1902–1999) was a Japanese printmaker and avid mountain climber He is best known for his distinctive woodblock prints depicting mountains and mountaineers. Born family in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, Azechi's began his artistic career engraving at a government printing office in Tokyo. Azechi met Hiratsuka Un'ichi, who encouraged him to pursue woodblock printing. Azechi developed a unique primitive style, characterized by bold forms and rich colors. Utemaro Azechi gained international recognition, with his prints.  His prints held in major museums worldwide, including the British Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Jason Berger (1924–2010) American painter. Born in Malden, Massachusetts.  Berger was given a full scholarship to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.  He studied under Karl Zerbe. Berger served in the American Army during World War II. After the war, Jason Berger won the Paige traveling scholarship from the Schoolf of the Museum of Fine Arts and went to Paris where he studied with sculptor Ossip Zadkine.  Berger returned United States, and became a well known teacher at schools like Wellesley College and the Art Institute of Boston.  Berger and his first wife, painter Marilyn Powers, co-founded the "Direct Vision" group. His art is held in numerous private and public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum.
